Korea Christmas Seals VERY RARE UNIQUE ITEMS - Rosetta Hall, AF Balla, 1932 1940
Korea- India , personal letter by Rosetta S. Hall
This is one of a number of final lots that I am offering for sale. This lot includes a number of significant papers and scarce artifacts related to the Korean Christmas Seals. All of these items come from my grandfather’s (Albert F. Balla) collection. He was a major collector of stamps and Christmas seals, and a correspondent to Dr. Rosetta Sherwood Hall - the woman who really instituted the Hospitals and institutions in Korea for the blind, handicapped, and infirmed, including tuberculosis. This incredibly rare collection includes a personal letter from Rosetta Hall to my grandfather, a handwritten description of the history of the Christmas Seals imagery, along with a handwritten note by Dr. Hall giving further information about the “Hospital of Extended Grace”, as well as “The Story of Korea’s First Christmas Seal” by Sherwood Hall, and the booklet “Korea - India; Tuberculosis Control in Two Lands” inscribed to my grandfather, and a single seal from 1940, as well as an imperforate pair. Please note: the seal on “The Story of Korea’s first Christmas Seal” was cut, and carefully taped together, so it may be more interesting as a decorative item. Please contact me with any questions, or to see more photos. Shipping to Korea will be $25.00. Please make sure you ask any questions, or if you would like further photos. I am listing other really interesting Korean Christmas Seal related items now as well. Please check out my other listings.
